Review: Warfare (2025)
A platoon of Navy SEALs embarks on a dangerous mission in Ramadi, Iraq, with the chaos and brotherhood of war retold through their memories of the event. Warfare ends up as expected: bleak and miserable. The sound design is really excellent, and the attention to detail makes everything you hear and feel incredibly vivid. The plot is told in real time, which makes it quite engaging. The mood is mostly filled with anxiety or suffering, though. I say mostly because the opening scene is different. I wasn’t expecting that at all! It was actually a lot of fun and a great way to show the bond between the characters. It doesn’t really fit with the rest of the movie, but I really liked it. Oh, and the music was great too. The cast is pretty strong, with names like Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Michael Gandolfini, and D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai. None of them really stand out on their own, but I think that’s a good thing. The story isn’t about any one person—it’s about all of them together.
