Review: The Accountant² (2025)

When an old acquaintance is murdered, Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax, to help. In partnership with Marybeth Medina, they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried. "Accountant 2" is a weak follow-up to a much better original action movie. Unfortunately, unlike the first film, this one doesn't seem to have a clear idea of what it's trying to be. Is it an action movie, or maybe a comedy? The result is messy and honestly annoying. The jokes don’t work well and get in the way of what should be a smart, serious action film. It’s like having someone with a loud horn and bad jokes showing up a,t a Shakespeare play. To be honest, you could probably skip the first twenty minutes and not miss much. Unless, of course, you enjoy watching an accountant with autism trying to date the cast of "Desperate Housewives. " I don’t know who thought that was funny, but it wasn’t. What happens next is okay if you're looking for exposition, but it still messes up the main story. The main character is interesting because he's alone in his own world. But the script tries to force a buddy relationship instead. That doesn’t work well, and the humor keeps being mean-spirited and awkward, making fun of the main character’s autism in a cringey way. In short, this is a boring and sometimes silly sequel to a much better original. If you liked the first movie, I’d say don’t watch this one. It might just really bug you, like it did me.
